  • Duke Haakon Magnusson (who became King Haakon V in 1299) enacts the Seyðabrævið (Sheep Letter), an amendment to the “Landslóg” (Country Law) specifically addressing land and property rights suitable to conditions on the northern islands written by Bishop Erland of Faroe and Sjúrður (or Sigurd the Shetlander), Løgmaður of Shetland (Chief of the Ting). The Sheep Letter served as the first constitution of Faroe and was amended by the Hundabrævið (Dog Letter) in 1350.
