- An unidentified vessel is recorded as having wrecked at "West Neeps", Gloup Voe, Yell circa 1400, however there is some suggestion that the event may have occured earlier, during the 14th Century. It has not been possible so far to locate a site known as "West Neeps" in the vicinity of Gloup Voe, however the entire part of the headland which forms the northern end of the west side of Gloup Voe is the "North Neaps", which is probably what is being referred to.
N.B.The "Wast Neeps" are in fact from approximately the Head of Bratta (HU 475 990) to Vigon (HU 080 040) - A well known haunt by the men from Vigon and Wast-a-Firth (near Gloup) as well as from Colvister, Dalsetter and Sellafirth for "wrack-wid"
