- Hanseatic merchants from the Dutch cities of Kampen and Deventer (Zuiderzee) and the German cities of Bremen and Hamburg are recorded for trading in Shetland, although all direct trading west of Bergen (Yslande) was forbidden for the second time in the same year.

The Register of the Privy Seal of Scotland contains an entry that James IV sent a letter to M. Edward Stewart, newly named coadjutor and successor to the Bishop of Orkney, "to charge the inhabitants of Orkney and Schetland to obey him in the the paying of the fruitis thairof perteynyng to the bischop of Orkney and to the said M. Edward, in his name, etc."
