The Register of the Privy Seal of Scotland contains an entry - "A Presentatioun to M. Henry Phanteich, of the archdenry of Schetland, vacand be ourpassing of tyme of the consecratioun of umquhile M. Johne Sincler in the bischop of Cathanes, last possesseur of the said archidenry, - pertenyn to our soveran lordis presentatioun be full rieht, and to the bischop of Orknais collatioum, etc."

Royal falconers set out to collect new birds at about this time each year. In the accounts of the Lord High Treasurer for James IV: "Item, giffin be the Kingis command to Schir Alexander Makculloch to pas in Orknay and Schetland for halkis. . . xx li."
