- Andrew Bruce, second son of Laurence Bruce of Cultmalindie and Muness, and heir to the Muness estate, married Isobel, daughter of Malcolm Sinclair of Quendale.
- An unidentified vessel is recorded as having wrecked on Bigga, Yell Sound circa 1600, however there is some suggestion that the event may have occured earlier, during the 16th Century.
- An unidentified vessel, registered in either Norway or Denmark either foundered or wrecked near North Roe with the loss of all hands.
- An unidentified vessel is recorded as having either wrecked or foundered on or near the the Brethren, to the north of Bressay Sound circa 1600,however there is some suggestion that the event may have occured earlier, during the 16th Century.
- An unidentified vessel is recorded as having wrecked at a location known as the "Earl's Baa", believed to be somewhere in the vicinity of Dales Voe, immediately to the north of Lerwick circa 1600, however there is some suggestion that the event may have occured earlier, during the 16th Century. N.B. This entry may be a duplicate of the incident referred to in the entry immediately above, and one or both of these entries may actually refer to the wreck of the Unicorn.
