- The Scalloway Court legislated that no-one should go to 'the sound nor ile of Brassay' to trade with Dutchmen, or commit fornication or adultery there, under pain of a £20 fine; and that the owners of the ground should demolish all houses built there, and prevent others being built.

Earl Patrick Stewart, Earl of Orkney (and Shetland) was found guilty of treason and subsequently beheaded on that day in 1615.

A court of men gathered at Scalloway Castle to begin the compilation of a code of laws for Shetland. (The Orcadians met in November to draw up laws pertaining to Orkney). These enactments eventually became the Old Country Acts.
