Scottish Parliament legislated the sheriffdoms of Orkney and Shetland to pay £193 16s Scots excise monthly toward the king's annuity. Commissioners for collecting the excise in Shetland were: John Sinclair of Quendale, James Sinclair of Scalloway, Andrew Bruce of Muness, William Bruce of Soundburgh, James Mowat, Gilbert Nevin, Cheyne of Essilmount, and Robert Hunter, factor for the Earl of Morton.
