Orkney and Shetland annexed to the crown by parliament, following dispute between Charles II and the earl of Morton. (See 1707.)
- An unidentified vessel, believed to have been a dogger, 60 tons, is recorded as having wrecked at "Noss". It is unclear from the record whether this this was the Isle of Noss, Bressay or Noss, Scousburgh.
