- Jarlshof abandoned. The site lay very much covered by sand dunes until a violent storm in 1905 uncovered part of it.
- The Providence (1680), a sloop, of Egilsay, Orkney wrecked in Bressay Sound.
- The vessel King Soloman. of Hamburg, Germany wrecked or foundered at one of the locations on Yell know as 'Burravoe'.
- The Grace is recorded as having been salvaged and sold, during or before 1680.
- Thomas Hunter of Lunna, the third Hunter of Lunna House, was born. He succeeded his elder brother William, who died in 1702 without heir.

The vessel Thomas and George, of London, England, having lost four crew overboard in heavy weather, and gone ashore on "Grif Skerry", from where she was abandoned when the five surviving crew members were rescued, was refloated and towed to "Hamna Voe", but once there was condemned as a total wreck.
