- The Rey Flower, a galliot, laden with a cargo of wheat, wrecked at Otterswick, East Yell sometime between January and October inclusive. All of the crew and some of the cargo was saved.
- The Society for The Propagation of Christian Knowledge resolved to sponsor 13 teachers in the most destitute districts of Scotland, one of which was to be in Shetland at a salary of 150 merks.

- The America Merchant, a full rigged ship, laden with a cargo of tobacco, of and for Glasgow, Scotland from Virginia, U.S.A. wrecked near Sumburgh. Some of the crew were saved.

- Dutch East Indiaman, De Liefde (The Love/The 'Darling'), shipwrecked on Out Skerries
- The Dutch East Indiaman Weerestein (Alternative:Werestyn) was lost near Shetland.
