The St Helena, a sail brig operating as a Greenland whaler, of Hamburg, Germany, wrecked probably in, or in the vicinity of the Wick of Skaw, Unst. Six of the crew were saved, but the remaining twenty five souls perished. A "second whaler" is recorded as having wrecked at the same location on the same day, but no details are available for this vessel.
