- An unidentified vessel, laden with a cargo of fish, is recorded as having stranded at Fitful Head, Dunrossness.
- An unidentified vessel, registered in The Netherlands is recorded as having wrecked near Uyea, Unst. All of the crew and most of the cargo was saved. Although the official record assigns this incident to Uyea, Unst, the possibility that it may have occured at Uyea, Northmavine cannot be entirely ruled out.
- Major Jacobite rebellion takes place in UK, ends 1746. For a while, it arguably severs Scotland from British control.
