- The number of horses and ponies in Shetland was reported at 4,851, of which 2,604 were used for agriculture and 2,247 were unbroken and used solely for breeding.

The Pribislaw,a wooden hulled barque, laden with a cargo of timber pit props, from Norway, for Sunderland, England wrecked on Bigga in Yell Sound. All of the crew were saved. The wreck and cargo were bought by Hay & Company, and the wreck eventually towed to Lerwick where it became a store in Hay's Dock. - 16th
An unidentified vessel, classified as a skiff, and registered in Norway, recorded as carrying a cargo of "bread and cloags" (??), reported driven ashore at Sandlodge, Sandwick.
