- RNLI's Silver Medal for bravery was awarded to Mr. James Jamieson for saving two crew from the fishing boat "Jessie", which sank off Oxna Island on December 14th 1895.

The Ellen a Lerwick owned wooden hulled fishing smack, in passage from Lerwick to North Roe was wrecked on the Rumble, Yell Sound.

The Union a Scalloway owned wooden hulled sailing smack, laden with a cargo of salt fish, foundered and sank while at anchor in East Voe, Scalloway.
- 18th
The Sprightly a Lerwick owned and registered wooden hulled fishing smack drove from anchor and wrecked at Out Skerries.
