  German trawler Castor PG142, wrecked on Burra.

  Lerwick Post Office opened.

  The Emile, a wooden lugger, of France, was destroyed by fire in Housa Voe, Papa Stour.

  The Vesper (1910), a wooden hulled sail smack, was involved in a collision with another vessel in Lerwick Harbour and sank.

• 23rd
  A Shetland model boat of 11' keel, returning to Bressay with six persons on board, was run down off the Baa of Twageos, at the South entrance of Lerwick Harbour, by the Burra boat "Children's Trust" LK523. Three of the six on board were drowned, James Laurenson, Jessie Laurenson, and Sarah Gifford. Those saved were Willie Hardie, the boat owner, his daughter Mary Christie, and Laurence Laurenson, son of James Laurenson.
