- The Shetland Flock Book Society (SFBS) was formed and established a standard and a registry for Shetland Sheep. Dr. James C. Bowie, Bixter, served as president. Andrew Tait, Vementry, was secretary.

Aggie's Gale This was the wedding day of Lerwick woman Agnes Smith and John H Jones. The day started fine, but by the time of the wedding it was blowing a gale and snowing, and on the way to their reception the canvas top of the wedding car was blown off. It was due to this calamity that the day and gale were long remembered in Lerwick.

The Betty, a vessel being used as a storage hulk, broke from moorings and went ashore at the Point of Scatland, on the mainland side of Da Nort Mooth of Lerwick Harbour.
