- The Green Valley (FR597), a steel hulled motor fishing vessel, of Fraserburgh, Scotland developed a leak and subsequently sank at a position approx 30 miles east of Whalsay on either the 14th or 29th.

The Girl Mandy (LK2), a motor fishing vessel, registered in Britain, wrecked or sank at either 60.31N, 01.09W, approx in the South Wick of Sound, West Yell, or just north of the Ness of Sound, West Yell. It is believed the wreck was subsequently salvaged and is currently based at Aith.

The Ternacia (FR331), a wooden hulled stern fishing motor trawler of Fraserburgh, Scotland sank at a position approx 1.5 miles off Haaf Gruney, Unst. All of the crew were saved.

Biggest snowfall since 1955, and a reminder of what Shetland winters used to be. Blizzards on 24th and 25th blocked most roads and brought down power lines.
