- Lone sailor Stuart Hill, dubbed "Captain Calamity" by the media after a series of earlier mishaps, rescued from the upturned hull of his vessel Maximum Exposure at a position approx 50 miles W of Shetland, by the Sumburgh Airport based Coastguard Helicopter. Marking the end of his second attempt to anti-clockwise circumnavigate the British Isles single-handedly.
