The Neptune (LK171), a steel hulled motor fishing vessel, of Lerwick sprung a leak and foundered at a position approx 38 miles NNW of Muckle Flugga. All on board were saved.

The Shetland Bus Memorial was unveiled by Barbara Melkevik in Scalloway.

Heavy rainfall caused landslides in an area from the south end of Cunningsburgh, to the north end of Levenwick. The road at Channerwick was blocked for most of the day. The pumphouse for the Sandwick water scheme was washed away, as was a flock of about 20 sheep. - 20th - 21st
