Adam Clarke

Dr Adam Clarke (* about 1760/1762 – 26th August 1832, honorable MA, Aberdeen, honorable LL.D, Aberdeen) was born and brought up on the farm of his father, a teacher and preacher of the Irish Church in Co. Londonderry, Northern Ireland.
For the last decade of his life starting with his last Presidency of the British Methodist Church in 1822 until his death in 1832 Dr Adam Clarke was the leading background figure for the development of the Methodist Shetland mission.
