Aithsting County Council By-Election May 1890
Shetlopedia - The Shetland Encyclopaedia
The 1890 Aithsting County Council By-Election occurred on 22 May. This particular election was the subject of much controversy because both the Sandsting and Aithsting elections were deemed to be illegitimate by the council. James MacCullie was 'elected' but when on May 22 Archibald took a seat in the council chamber, there was a vote to see what should be done, with 11 in support of Garriock staying on and 7 against.
