Shetlopedia - The Shetland Encyclopaedia that anyone can edit
Alex Cluness, Shetland author, was born in Lerwick in 1969, where he grew up. He studied English at Aberdeen University and subsequently taught at the Anderson High School. Along with John Hunter, he took over the editing of The New Shetlander when the Graham brothers gave it up. Alex now works in the south-west of England.
Cluness's first collection of poetry, Shetland and Other Poems was published by The Shetland Times; 'Disguise; his second collection, by Kettillonia; 2005, his third, by North Idea. His work has also appeared in a number of anthologies such as New Writing Scotland, and in The Herald, Edinburgh Review, Northwords, Markings, Lallans, Poetry Scotland, The New Shetlander and Shetland Life. He also edited Doing his Bit: a Shetland soldier in the Great War: Robert M. Greig, Shetland Times, 1999.
