Andrew Halcrow's Shop, Hamnavoe, is a small General Merchants, and post office, currently owned by Mr Jimmy Fullerton, Mrs Doreen Fullerton, Mr Marshall Thomason and Mrs Janice Thomason.
The shop was originally established last century by Doreen's Grandfather Andrew, Then owned and run by Doreen's father John William Halcrow and his wife Harriet.
When John Wm died suddenly in the 1970's the shop was sold to John Wm's brothers Erasmus and Gerald Halcrow who ran the business for many years. When they retired, the shop was sold to Erasmus's children, Greta Hartley, Esmie Halcrow and John Lyle Halcrow, who ran the business until it closed down in 2003.
The shop remained closed for just short of one year, when Doreen, Jimmy, their daughter Janice, and her husband Marshall decided to rescue the local amenity. Having purchased the building, they made some changes and opened again shortly after.
The shop is now a thriving business in the heart of the small Island of Burra.
