Atlantic Ferries have operated the ferry service to the isle of Foula under contract to the Shetland Islands Council since November 20th 2006. Their involvement with the service is due to terminate as of July 31st 2011, with the re-tendered contract having been awarded to BK Marine, effective as of August 1st.
The purpose built vessel New Advance sails between Walls Pier and Ham Voe Pier, Foula.
Atlantic Ferries was established to bid for the contract, when the Shetland Islands Council decided to cease operating the service themselves and seek a private contractor to undertake the work.
