Bobby Tulloch MBE, naturalist, photographer, author, musician and humourist, was born in Aywick, on the island of Yell in 1929.

For many years Bobby was the R.S.P.B. representative in Shetland and later travelled widely lecturing on Shetland and its wildlife. He wrote several books and articles, as well as contributing to local papers and magazines such as The New Shetlander. He also made several highly popular TV documentaries.

Although Bobby is best remembered for his passionate interest in wildlife, many people will remember the songs Bobby wrote. These songs sometimes took a rather irreverent twist on popular songs of the day, and events which were topical to Shetland, but were always presented with a singular wit and style which endeared Bobby to the listener. (See below for details)

Bobby Tulloch died in 1996. In recent years, his sister, the writer Mary Ellen Odie, has created a fine website dedicated to Bobby and his work (see below).

Albums

In the early 90s Bobby released two albums of what can best be described as "classical Shetland humour". In his warm down to earth style the songs took a humourous look at events in his native islands. Throughout the recordings the humour of the songs was intermixed with his obvious passion for his island home.
