CLAN, based at Clan House in Aberdeen, is an independent charity for anyone affected by any type of cancer at any time from diagnosis onwards.
The services and support offered by CLAN to patients and carers, and families of patients, cover the whole of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland.
CLAN is currently embarked on a major fund raising campaign to build a new CLAN House. The campaign is titled Clan 123 (1 charity has 2 years to raise 3 million pounds).
Because of the importance of this charity to Shetland cancer patients, fund raising efforts since the launch of the campaign in July 2008, have resulted in £200,000 being raised in Shetland by the end of January 2009. This figured had risen to £680,000 by the beginning of September 2009.
Fund raising efforts are continuing, such as the Unforgettable Shetland 2010 calendar, which features tastefully posed nudes in typical Shetland scenes.
