Cat Firth
Shetlopedia - The Shetland Encyclopaedia
Cat Firth, (HU450520), is an inlet on the east side of the Shetland Mainland, south of South Nesting.
On the west coast of the firth is the settlement of Brunt Hamarsland, and at the north end of the firth are the settlements of Freester and Vassa.
On the shore of the west end of the firth is the proposed location of a distillery.
In spring 1940, when the first refugee boats started to arrive from Norway, Cat Firth was their first mooring place, but because the Firth was rather unsheltered, they decided to move the boats to Hamna Voe, at Lunna Ness.
