Category talk:Notable Shetland Buildings

Shetlopedia - The Shetland Encyclopaedia that anyone can edit

Early morning braincell moment ;-)
I think it's coming time that this category had a decent header written for it. Perhaps mentioning some general descriptions of "Haas", "Town Houses", "Böds", etc..
Then we could have them split into sub categories, and bring in churches and chapels as a sub category of Notable Buildings, instead of just sitting in a category of their own.
Obvious Sub Categories at the moment would appear to be:

  • Böds
  • Haas
  • Town Houses
  • Churches & Chapels
  • Brochs
  • Water Mills, (or just Mills?)
  • Public Buildings (Town Hall etc.)
  • Modern Architecture, (or something to cover some of the more recent carbuncles);-)
  • Old Lighthouses
  • Shetland Museums

Obviously some of these are sub categories elsewhere, but that lot would remain as it is. This would just bring all buildings together into one place for folk looking for buildings, and wanting to find things easier.

I think that it would help tidy up the overall heritage category a bit as well, it's still looking a bit like a dogs dinner, when it comes to buildings.

Of course each sub category would benefit from a descriptive text at the head.

If that sounds OK, I can sort the categories out, but I'll need help with the headline texts. ;-)
