This picture is from the early 1920's and is of all the Post Office Staff. A young Charles Manson can be seen in the back row, second from the left next to an unknown man marked with an 'X'. To the right of him is William G. Smith, councillor. Also in this photo is Robert Blance, who would go on to be provost, second from the right in the back row, and John Gear, third from the right on the bottom row, his face shadowed.
Charles Arthur Manson (b. 9 January 1899, d. 21 September 1983, Portree) was a sorting clerk, telegraphist and Lerwick Town Councillor.
He was also the Guizer Jarl for Up Helly Aa in 1926
