Collins Encyclopaedia of Scotland is a reference work on Scotland, written by John and Julia Keay. There have been two editions, with the second including a hundred new articles, including one on the Scottish Parliament.
It is not, as such, about Shetland in particularly, but it contains lengthy articles on "Shetland" itself, and "Vikings". The article concerning Zetland notes wrily:
- "Its inclusion, for want of other words beginning with a 'Z', in alphabetical listings of Scottish subject matter, could prolong its currency, as herein."<ref>p994</ref>
