The Dunrossness Story written by James W. Irvine, published in 1987 (1st Edition) by the Shetland Publishing Company, 2nd Edition published by A. Irvine Printing in 2001. 238 pages, softback.
The area referred to as Dunrossness has, and does mean different things to different people, but for the purposes of this book it refers to the South Mainland of Shetland, south of an imaginary line drawn from Maywick to Channerwick, including Fair Isle.
The book contains a comprehensive account of the known history of the area covering the approx 5000 years up to the late 20th Century. Includes several black and white photos, a few line drawings by Meg Smith, a glossary and an Index.
