In Fladdabister, South Shetland Mainland, there are still remains of two old lime kilns.
These two pictures from about 1932, shows the last burning of limestone in Fladdabister. The picture on the left shows William Manson, Brinna, breaking up burnt limestone. The picture on the right shows his lime kiln.
