George Heneage Laurence Dundas

George Hineage Laurence Dundas was elected to the constituency of Orkney & Shetland on 18th July 1818, replacing Richard Bempde Johnstone Honyman, and served until 1820 when he was replaced by John Balfour. He was elected again to the seat from 1826 until 1830, being replaced on that occasion by George Trail .
George Dundas, born 8th September 1778, was the son of Thomas Dundas, Lord Leutenant & Vice Admiral of Orkney & Shetland, and MP for Richmond from 1763 to 1768.
Before becoming MP for Orkney & Shetland, George Dundas had been elected MP for Richmond in 1802, 1806, and 1812.
In his non-political career he was a Rear Admiral in the Royal Navy, and Lord of the Admiralty.
He died on 7th October 1834, and was buried at Marske, Cleveland.
