Hazel Hughson is a Shetland artist who specialised in tapestry and jewellery at Edinburgh College of Art. In 1975 she returned to Shetland where she set up the Shetland Workshop Gallery. In 2002 she was appointed Indigenous Craft Development Officer for the Shetland Arts Trust, with funding from the Scottish Arts Council, the SIC Development Department, Shetland Enterprise and LEADER+ and in association with the Shetland Guild of Spinners Weavers and Dyers and the Trustees of the Shetland Textile Working Museum. Her inspirational leadership and creative thinking led to a number of exciting initiatives which have helped to breathe new life into traditional crafts in Shetland.
