Hjolp
Shetlopedia - The Shetland Encyclopaedia that anyone can edit
One of two ships under the comand of Earl Rognvald Kali Kolsson which wrecked on the east coast of Shetland mainland in 1148. At this time Rognvald was on his way back home from a state visit to King Ingi of Norway who had presented the Hjolp to Earl Rgnvald.
The exact location ist not clear, but Rognvald sent men to Einar of Gulberwick to call for help. This lead to the conclusion that the site of the wreckage was somewhere in the neighbourhood of Gulberwick.
The Hjolp and the Fifa represent the oldest surviving record of a wreck in Shetland.
