Huney is a small island off the east coast of Unst, and about .5km southwest of the island of Balta. The channel between Huney and Balta forms the main entrance to Balta Sound.
On the west shore of Huney an ayre almost connects to another from the shore of Unst and may in the past have formed a tombolo. To the north of these ayres lies the sheltered inlet known as The Yei.
The Express wrecked on the isle on June 2nd 1889, and the submarine HMS/M E49 was sunk between Huney and Balta on March 12th 1917. Both while in the process of leaving Balta Sound.
