The ss Jane with a cargo of herring was en route from Baltasound,Unst to Lerwick, on the 19th July 1923 when she ran aground at about midnight on the island of Linga near Yell, just north of Fetlar.
She later slipped off the rocks and sank in 20 metres of water.
