Recipe 1
Ingredients
- 4 lb Beetroot,
- 1 Pint good vinegar,
- 1 Raspberry jelly,
- 2 oz Sugar.
Method
- 1. Boil the beetroot until tender,
- 2. Skin, and chop the beetroot up into small cubes,
- 3. Put the beetroot into jars,( See Notes )
- 4. Put Vinegar,sugar and jelly in a pan,
- 5. Bring to the boil,
- 6. Pour over the beetroot in the jars,
- 7. Leave to cool slightly, ( See Notes )
- 8. Seal and label,( See Notes )
- 9. Store for a few days to mature.
Notes
- 1. Use strong jars and lids with a rubber seal and soak in boiling water just before using them,
- 2. Sealing when still quite hot forms a vacuum in the jars.
