Lawrence Tulloch

Lawrence Tulloch is a Shetland author and storyteller from Gutcher, in the island of Yell. He comes from a tradition of storytellers - his father Tom Tulloch was extensively recorded by The School of Scottish Studies for their archives.
Lawrence's diverse career included spells working as a Muckle Flugga lighthouse keeper, a postman, a weaver and a printer. He is also is a former chairman of Shetland Islands Tourism.
Lawrence is now a professional storyteller who travels to all corners of Scotland, Ireland, Sweden, Faroe, Iceland and the USA. He has recorded three cassette tapes of stories on the Veesik label, and published The Foy: And Other Folk Tales in conjunction with Sheila Faichney in December 2006.
He has a keen interest in local history and archaeology, presents radio programmes for BBC Radio Shetland, teaches Shetland dialect to schools and has a passion for all things folk - tales, lore and music. He is also an active member of Shetland ForWirds
