Leda
Shetlopedia - The Shetland Encyclopaedia
On the morning of 15th May 1967, the Norwegian Coastal liner Leda arrived in Lerwick, escorted by two MTB's of the Royal Norwegian Navy. All the passengers on the liner were veterans of the Shetland Bus and MTB wartime operations. This was the only organised return visit to Shetland by the veterans, though many had made private visits, and was an emotional occasion both for them and the Shetlanders.
For this special occasion, boats in the harbour were dressed overall and a 'Shackleton' aircraft of RAF Coastal Command circled the harbour.
A memorial plaque was received at a ceremony at Lerwick Town Hall, from the veterans of the MTB's 30th and 54th Flotillas, for appreciation of hospitality.
