Lise Sinclair

Lise Sinclair, Shetland poet and musician, was born in 1971. She lives in Fair Isle and is the author of 'Here' (North Idea, 2006). Her poetry has also been published in The New Shetlander, Shetland Life, The Pull of the Moon or Bicycle Dreams, Parnasso.
Her work is characterized by a strong feel for the dialect of her native isle, yet she is also a remarkable poet in English, capable of subtle insight and expression.
Lise has been translated into Finnish, Estonian, Latvian, Icelandic and Norwegian, and has also translated from these languages into the dialect of Fr.Isle, at the Literature Across Frontiers translation workshop, held in Busta, Lerwick and Edinburgh in 2005. The book of this event, 'All Points North', including Lise's work, was published by the Scottish Poetry Library in 2006.
She has also written a suite of music for cello, harp, viola and voice based on poetry from Shetland entitled Ivver Entrancin Wis, and is a member of the popular band Friðarey folk.
