Loch of Tingwall
Shetlopedia - The Shetland Encyclopaedia that anyone can edit
Loch of Tingwall is about 8 miles west of Lerwick and about 2 miles north of Scalloway.
Towards the north end of the loch is the Law Ting Holm. The holm is connected to the shore by a narrow strip of land, and was the site of the Althing, in past times.
This loch is very popular with anglers, producing excellent quality trout.
To the north of the loch, at the top of the slope, is Tingwall Kirk.
