Malcolmson and Co. is a bakers with their bakery on Commercial Road, and a retail shop on Commercial Street. They produce a full range of breads, biscuits, and cakes. They also make sandwiches which are sold in shops throughout Shetland.
Until around 1980 the bakery was located at Commercial Street, behind the current shop. Malcolmsons obtained and converted the curent Commercial Road building at that time, until then it had been occupied as a warehouse by the firm of W.C. Bain (Wholesalers), who vacated it when they occupied a far larger purpose built warehouse between Grantfield and Holmsgarth, which now forms part of the Co-op Supermarket.
The business at one time also incorporated a tea room/cafe, which was located on the first floor of the Commercial Street building, immediately above the shop. This part of the business, however, ceased sometime before the mid 1970's.
