The Marec (A148) (some records state Marie), a steel hulled steam trawler fishing vessel, 32.74 L x 6.45 B x 3.45 D metres, 182 gross tons, built 1900 J. Duthie, Sons & Co. Aberdeen, Scotland, owner Silver City Steam Trawling Co Ltd. Aberdeen, Scotland, Captain F. Bailey. nine crew, registered in Aberdeen, Scotland, and while on a fishing trip out of that port, grounded and was wrecked on the Hoevdi Grund, Foula on May 29th 1907.
The crew saved themselves by taking to the vessel's small boat and landing themselves on Foula. They subsequently borrowed a local Yoal or Sixareen from Foula and rowed themselves the approx 20 miles to Scalloway.
