Maurice Mullay stood as a Conservative candidate for the Lerwick South ward in the 2007 Shetland Local Elections, but was not elected.

He is now standing for the vacant seat in the Lerwick South by-election on 28th February 2008 Maurice, who was born and raised in Shetland, and educated at Oxford, is best known locally as the former director of Shetland Tourism.
