The Monarch, a wooden hulled sail fishing lugger, 12 L metres, 15 or 17 tons (the records are in dispute), built 1876, unregistered, owner and Captain W. Sim, Pitullie, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

While on a fishing trip out of Lerwick this vessel foundered and sank at a position approx 9 miles south of Bressay during W Force 4 wind conditions on August 26th 1886.
