Nibon is a small settlement in the south part of Northmavine. located at the end of a long and winding single track road, which also leads to Gunnister, it has some of the most spectacular coastal scenery anywhere in Shetland.

Foreign visitors to Shetland should be aware that the road to Nibon is one of the "tricky" roads in Shetland with a lot of "blind summits" and "blind bends" - nevertheless, it is one of the most "scenic" roads on Shetland.
Nibon is sheltered to the west by the Island of Nibon. There is a narrow channel between the Island and the shore, that begins at the South Sound of Nibon and ends with the North Sound of Nibon, south of Gunnister Voe.
A bit inland of the channel, at Meena's Pund, you can see the ruins of an old water mill, an old croft, an Otter trap, and an old 'laxigird' (salmon trap).
