The Noup of Noss
This imposing sea cliff on the island Noss, is the nesting place of thousands of seabirds, and at almost 600 feet high, is visible from a long distance offshore. Approaching Shetland from the East, it is usually the first land seen, and could possibly be the "Hjalt", (meaning "High") in Hjaltland, the old Norse name for Shetland.
