Peter Fraser, musician and founder member of Shetland Fiddlers' Society, was born on the 19th of May 1884 at Finnigarth, Walls, the son of John Brims Fraser (b. 1840, Finnigarth), and his wife Ann (Smith, b. 29 Apr 1843, Elvister, Walls). He was a joiner to trade, and married Barbara Isbister (b. 21 Sep 1895, Dale of Walls) on the 26th of February 1931 at St. Ringan's UF Church Manse, Lerwick.

Fraser had a huge repertoire of tunes from the Westside of Shetland. He was prominent in the work of the Shetland Folk Society and a member of the Folk Society band. He died at the Gilbert Bain Hospital, Lerwick on the 28th of December 1966.
