Racer

The Racer, a wooden hulled cutter laden with 16 tons of dried fish and shop stock, 16 L x 5 B metres, 32 GRT or 33 tons (the available records are in dispute), built 1841, registered in Lerwick, owner W. J. Adie, Captain T. Balfour, three crew.

This vessel in passage from Lerwick to Out Skerries drove ashore and wrecked at the South Mouth, Out Skerries during SSE Force 9 wind conditions on December 22nd 1888. All of the crew were saved.

Previously this vessel had served as a tender to the training vessel Cumberland on the River Clyde, Scotland.
